The Supreme Court<\/a> on Monday refused to intervene in Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal<\/a>‘s bail issue, saying that it would wait for the Delhi High Court’s order on the same. <\/p>\n

The Aam Aadmi Party\u2019s national Convenor had approached the SC seeking relief from the Delhi High Court’s stay on his bail in the alleged excise policy scam case. His legal team had requested an urgent hearing for this morning.<\/p>\n

The SC has posted Kejriwal’s plea for June 26.<\/p>\n

Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing Enforcement Directorate<\/a>, told the SC that the order of the High Court is expected in a day or two. The SC concurred that if it were to pass an order now, it will be pre-judging the issue. <\/p>\n

“It is not a subordinate court, it is a High Court,” the SC said. <\/p>\n

Kejriwal was arrested<\/a> by the ED<\/a> on March 21 in connection with a money laundering<\/a> case relating to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy<\/a> 2021-22.Earlier, on June 20, the Rouse Avenue Court had granted Kejriwal regular bail, despite opposition from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). However, the ED quickly challenged this decision at the Delhi High Court on June 21, arguing that the bail was granted without giving the agency a fair hearing. Following the ED\u2019s appeal, the Delhi High Court stayed the trial court\u2019s order, suspending Kejriwal\u2019s bail until a final decision is made. The High Court’s interim stay effectively pauses the trial court\u2019s decision to grant bail to Kejriwal.”Till pronouncement, the operation of the impugned order shall remain stayed,” the Delhi HC as it put an interim stay on the trial court order.<\/p>\n

Earlier on May 10, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to the Delhi CM for him to participate in electioneering during the Lok Sabha polls and asked him to surrender on June 2. He was asked not to visit the Office of the Chief Minister or the Delhi Secretariat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
