On Monday morning, rescue teams<\/a> recovered the body of one of the two missing children who, along with three other family members, were swept away at a waterfall<\/a> near the Bhushi Dam<\/a> in Pune<\/a>‘s Lonavala<\/a> area. The search for the other missing child is still ongoing, officials said. On Sunday, a group of people was swept away by gushing water caused by intense rainfall<\/a> in the region. The rescue teams recovered the bodies of a 36-year-old woman and two minor girls on the same day.<\/p>\n

Search and Recovery<\/h2>\n

The search resumed on Monday with police, Navy divers, and other rescue teams involved. They recovered the body of 9-year-old Mariya Ansari from a reservoir near the accident spot, according to a senior official from Pune rural police. The search continues for 4-year-old Adnan Sabhahat Ansari.<\/p>\n

Eyewitness Account<\/h2>\n

A distressing video of the incident shows a group of 9-10 people, including the victims, stranded in the middle of a stream with flood waters gushing down. They were seen crying for help while their relatives and bystanders urged them to hold on to each other. As the water flow increased, a woman carrying a small boy and another girl were seen getting swept away, followed by the others.<\/p>\n

Victims Identified<\/h2>\n

The bodies of Shahista Liaqat Ansari (36), Amima Adil Ansari (13), and Umera Adil Ansari (8) were recovered from the reservoir downstream on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Family Outing Turns Tragic<\/h2>\n

According to police, 16-17 members of a family from Sayyad Nagar in Pune’s Hadapsar area had hired a private bus to visit the scenic spot near Lonavala for a picnic on the rain-soaked Sunday. A relative mentioned that the family had traveled from Mumbai for a wedding a few days ago and decided to visit Lonavala for a picnic.<\/p>\n

Safety Concerns<\/h2>\n

As the monsoon season begins, thousands of visitors flock to the Bhushi and Pavana dam areas, often disregarding warnings from the police and local authorities to avoid unknown areas. A police officer estimated that more than 50,000 people visited Lonavala on Sunday.
