Guwahati:Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma<\/a> said that owing to heavy rainfall<\/a> in Arunachal Pradesh flood situation<\/a> in Assam<\/a> has turned critical.<\/p>\n

Sarma on Monday said that river Brahmaputra<\/a> and all its tributaries are flowing above the danger level.<\/p>\n

Dibrugarh in Upper Assam is worst affected area. Sarma said, “Next three days are crucial and if it rains there will be floods in the entire state. “<\/p>\n

There is warning from India Meteorological Department<\/a> (IMD) warning of heavy rainfall for the next two to three days, he said<\/p>\n

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a> and Union Home Minister Amit Shah called me and assured of all help to deal with the situation,\u201d the Assam CM said.<\/p>\n

The NDRF<\/a> and Army will be on standby.All Ministers, MLAs and officials have been asked to closely monitor the situation.Altogether 2,70,628 people in 14 districts, including Brahmaputra and Barak valleys, are facing the fury of floods.Sarma stated in X, “Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji called me a short while ago to enquire about the flood situation in Assam. I explained him that Assam is experiencing a second wave of floods this year due to heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh<\/a> and part of our upper Assam districts. I also briefed him about the relief measures undertaken by the state government. He assured me of full cooperation from the Government of India in this hour of crisis. “
