The ministry of labour and employment, on Saturday, said it has submitted a detailed report of the Haryana government<\/a> on alleged labour law violations<\/a> at the Amazon<\/a> warehouse in Manesar to the National Human Rights Commission<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe report mentioned violations of certain provisions of labour laws<\/a> by Amazon and informed that the state government has initiated legal action as per provisions of the concerned labour laws,\u201d the ministry said in a statement issued on Saturday. <\/p>\n

Amazon India admitted to lapses in workplace safety<\/a> at its warehouse in NCR. In its submission to the central labour commissioner, the company accepted that there was a clear violation of its workplace safety standards on May 16, 2024 at its Manesar warehouse and assured the government of a prompt action being taken in this regard.<\/p>\n

Foxconn<\/a> case<\/strong>
Besides, the labour ministry<\/a> has also forwarded the report received from the labour department of Tamil Nadu government<\/a> in the matter of discrimination<\/a> against married women by Foxconn to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) whihc has given a clean chit to Foxconn, saying there was no evidence supporting claims of discrimination against married women in the recruitment and employment processes at the Foxconn\u2019s Chennai iPhone factory. <\/p>\n

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the central labour ministry and the Tamil Nadu government seeking a detailed report in the Foxconn case, taking suo motu cognizance of discrimination by the company which reportedly excluded married women from job at its assembly plant in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
