A multi-agency search<\/a> operation is currently in progress to locate two women constables<\/a> who have been missing from the BSF Academy<\/a> in Tekanpur<\/a>, Gwalior<\/a>, for over a month. The missing constables, Akanksha Nikhar from Jabalpur and Shahana Khatoon from Murshidabad, West Bengal, were trainers at the academy since 2021. As per a TOI report, they disappeared on June 6, 2024.<\/p>\n

Authorities have alerted BSF<\/a> units along international borders about their disappearance. The investigation has taken an unexpected turn following the discovery of \u201csuspicious activity\u201d on the constables\u2019 phones. Tracing the phone records revealed that their devices were active in Delhi, Howrah, and Behrampore in West Bengal, near Murshidabad. Investigators are analyzing phone records and CCTV footage from these locations to understand the constables’ travel patterns and investigate any potential connections to Shahana\u2019s family in West Bengal.<\/p>\n

The last confirmed sighting of the constables was at Beacon Hospital in Behrampore on June 7, as verified by CCTV footage. Both their phones have been switched off since their departure from the hospital.<\/p>\n

Akanksha\u2019s mother, Urmila Nikhar, expressed her concerns during a public hearing with Gwalior police. She recounted a conversation with Akanksha on June 5, during which her daughter seemed hesitant. Urmila Nikhar claims that despite filing a missing person\u2019s report at Bilua police station (100 km from Gwalior) on June 6, the Gwalior police initially did not investigate the disappearance.<\/p>\n

Shahana’s family in West Bengal has not provided any information to Akanksha’s family, further deepening the mystery surrounding their disappearance.<\/p>\n

In response to Urmila Nikhar\u2019s complaint, the Gwalior police have formed a special investigation team. This team is collaborating with state and central agencies, including their counterparts in West Bengal, to trace the constables\u2019 movements and re-establish contact.Inputs from TOI<\/em>
