The Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM), a collective of Mumbai-based technology companies, has elected Dream Sports cofounder and CEO Harsh Jain<\/a> and Haptik CEO Aakrit Vaish<\/a> to chair its eight-member governing council in its inaugural elections starting from April 1 for a two-year term.<\/p>\n

Other members of the newly elected governing council include Vishal Gondal, cofounder and CEO of GOQii; Dhruvil Sanghvi, founder and CEO of LogiNext; Akanksha Hazari, founder and CEO of LoveLocal; Mayank Kumar, cofounder and MD of upGrad; Naiyya Saggi, cofounder of The Good Glamm Group; and Vivek Khemani, cofounder of Quantiphi.<\/p>\n

It is an honour to co-chair this organisation and work closely with the government and industry to keep growing Mumbai\u2019s tech ecosystem exponentially.\u201d<\/p>\n

Formed in October 2022<\/a>, TEAM comprises 46 founders from Mumbai-based tech companies including BillDesk, BookMyShow, CitiusTech, Dream11, Eruditus, Fino, Games 24×7, Haptik, Hungama, Nazara Technologies<\/a>, Pepperfry, PharmEasy, Pine Labs, Purplle, Route Mobile<\/a>, Shaadi.com, Upstox, and Zepto, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first year of TEAM was simply putting Mumbai tech on the map. It was about galvanising the existing community of unicorn and soonicorn founders,\u201d Vaish said. \u201cNow that the foundation is in place, the next two years are going to be all about grassroot development. We want every young founder and engineer to start thinking of Mumbai as one of their top choices to build a startup.\u201d<\/p>\n

TEAM recently conducted its flagship event \u2018Mumbai Tech Week\u2019<\/a> that brought together Mumbai\u2019s tech community, including over 4,000 tech enthusiasts and high-profile speakers from the government and tech world.<\/p>\n

During the event, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled \u2018Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse\u2019, aimed at showcasing ongoing infrastructure developments in Mumbai through a virtual representation of the city in the metaverse, envisioning the transformation of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) by 2025.According to Tracxn, Maharashtra\u2019s tech startup ecosystem has received $30 billion in funding up to February 2024, placing it second only to Karnataka. In 2023, the Maharashtra tech sector saw four funding rounds exceeding $100 million, a notable drop from the 13 witnessed in 2022 as the funding winter cooled investor activity.<\/div>\n
