US vice president<\/a> Kamala Harris is reported to have spoken to Leader of Opposition<\/a> Rahul Gandhi on Thursday evening even as the Congress<\/a> leadership chose to maintain a silence over the report that said the two leaders spoke over the phone.<\/p>\n

“No idea whatsoever,” a Congress spokesperson said when asked about the telephonic conversation. <\/p>\n

While it is believed that Harris made a courtesy call to Gandhi following his appointment as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha<\/a>, its timing, incidentally, coincided with a section of the Democrats pitching for the Indian origin Harris to be the party’s presidential candidate<\/a> in place of President Joe Biden<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The New York Times<\/a> has reported that Harris is actively considering the prospects of running for the top position and is also discussing the possible names of those who can be her running mate.
