Guwahati: Assam<\/a> government has decided to reduce Value Added Tax<\/a> (VAT<\/a>) on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG<\/a>) from the present 14.5% to 5% up to 31st March 2027.<\/p>\n

The cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to reduce air pollution through use of clean fuel, the State Cabinet has approved reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) from the present 14.5% to 5% up to 31st March, 2027. This will rationalise prices of CNG for consumers and augment its wider adoption<\/p>\n

To offer best possible medical care to cancer patients, the State Cabinet has accorded approval to financial sanction of 200 Crore for Assam Cancer Care<\/a> Foundation (ACCF) for implementation of Assam Cancer Care Project for
2024-25. 17 cancer care hospitals are being established under this project in Assam which aims to benefit around 30,000 cancer patients every year<\/p>\n

To ensure that good governance initiatives are properly implemented in the three districts of Barak Valley, the State Cabinet has mandated that Cabinet Ministers visit the region every month for 3 days. These visits will align with the Government of Assam’s agenda of fast tracking development in Barak Valley<\/p>\n

To ensure the continued free-of-cost treatment of the poor, the State Cabinet has approved a financial sanction of 375 crore for implementation of Mukhya Mantri Ayushman Asom Yojana (MMAAY) for the year 2024-25. MMAAY is the State’s flagship family floater health assurance programme which offers cashless medical benefits upto 5 lakh per family, per year at Government and empanelled private hospitals. The scheme covers 36 lakh families<\/p>\n

For ensuring that various developmental works in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) are carried out in a timely manner, the State Government has approved release of Rs 401.50 crore to BTC. This amount is the 1st instalment for the financial year 2024-25 to BTC under the SOPD-G fund.
