Delhi<\/a>‘s bustling Sadar Bazaar<\/a> has become the latest target for a notorious gang employing a unique tactic to commit theft. Known as the “Khujli Gang<\/a>,” these thieves use specially formulated powders to induce intense itching, diverting their victims’ attention and providing an opportunity to steal their belongings, a TOI report stated.<\/p>\n

Khujli Gang’s Modus Operandi<\/h2>\n

The Khujli Gang’s method involves approaching an unsuspecting person and surreptitiously sprinkling an itch-inducing powder on them. The victim, overwhelmed by the sudden and uncontrollable itching, becomes distracted and often removes clothing or abandons their belongings in an attempt to find relief. This distraction allows the gang members to execute their thefts with precision.<\/p>\n

Caught on Camera<\/h2>\n

CCTV footage from Sadar Bazaar has captured several incidents involving the Khujli Gang. In one viral video, a gang member can be seen nonchalantly approaching a victim from behind, applying the powder, and then casually walking away. The victim is soon seen frantically scratching their neck, unaware of the impending theft.<\/p>\n

Exploiting Distractions<\/h2>\n

In some cases, victims have been so desperate for relief that they remove their shirts, leaving their belongings unattended. Another gang member then creates a diversion, blocking the view of onlookers, while an accomplice steals the unattended possessions. This well-orchestrated tactic has allowed the gang to carry out multiple successful heists.<\/p>\n

Daylight Robbery in Shops<\/h2>\n

The gang’s activities are not limited to the streets. Another video shows the gang operating inside a shop in Sadar Bazaar. They sprinkle the itch powder on a customer’s neck, causing confusion and diverting attention long enough to steal the victim’s belongings before making a swift exit.<\/p>\n

Police Action<\/h2>\n

Manoj Kumar Meena, DCP-North, recently announced the arrest of two individuals connected to the Khujli Gang. Despite the lack of official complaints or FIRs regarding this specific type of theft, the police acted proactively based on the viral videos. The arrested individuals, identified as Munna and Rajendra from Siliguri, West Bengal, are currently in custody as investigations continue.The Khujli Gang’s unusual method of theft has drawn significant attention and concern among Delhi residents. The police urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. This case highlights the need for increased awareness and preventive measures to protect against such unconventional criminal tactics.
