Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to ED officer Ankit Tiwari who was arrested in Dec last year by Tamil Nadu police after being caught allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and K V Viswanathan granted him relief and directed him not to leave the state without its permission. ED and state govt have been at loggerheads over the bribery case as the central agency urged the court to transfer the case to CBI but state strongly opposed the plea.
