Bengaluru Hebbal flyover ramp shut from today. Check traffic diversion and advisory on airport route
Starting from today (April 17) , the ramp used by drivers from KR Pura and Nagawara areas heading towards Mehkri Circle will be inaccessible to all vehicles except two-wheelers. This restriction is anticipated to last for six months. “From today the Hebbal flyover KR Pura upramp remains closed for all types of vehicular movement except for the two wheelers. Public are requested to use the suggested alternative routes and co-operate for the smoother regulation of traffic,” Bengaluru traffic authorities said in a tweet.

Joint commissioner (traffic) MN Anucheth said on Tuesday that the closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new ramp by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), which has requested six months for completion. Motorists from KR Pura, Hennur, HRBR Layout, and neighboring areas in northeast Bengaluru are advised to seek alternative routes to access core city zones.

Furthermore, Anucheth advised air travelers from the KR Pura area to utilize the Hennur-Bagalur road for reaching Kempegowda International Airport, as using Hebbal junction may result in navigating through additional junctions. It is expected that congestion on the flyover will escalate starting Wednesday. Motorists bound for Mehkri Circle from KR Pura will be directed, except for two-wheelers, to utilize the service road of Ballari Road, already congested with vehicles from Kodigehalli, Jakkur, Yelahanka, and beyond.

One of the flyover ramps originally designated for vehicles from Tumakuru Road will now accommodate traffic from the KR Pura side, in addition to its existing load from the Jakkur side. This rerouting of traffic from the Nagawara side beneath the flyover will impede the flow of vehicles from Tumakuru Road towards Kempegowda International Airport and KR Pura.

Motorists, excluding two-wheelers, traveling from Nagawara Outer Ring Road (ORR) towards Mehkri Circle will need to proceed to Hebbal Circle beneath the flyover, turn right towards Kodigehalli, execute a U-turn at Kodigehalli signal to access the service road, and then progress onto the flyover loop leading towards the city.
