Aditya Srivastava tops UPSC

Education and upbringing

Hailing from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, The UPSC top rank holder attended City Montessori School in Aliganj after continuing his education in the Mawaiya area of Lucknow. Srivastava passed the esteemed JEE exam and graduated with a degree in engineering from IIT Kanpur. He also has an MTech degree. He had electrical engineering as his optional subject in the UPSC exam.

IT job, failure and IPS

He had worked for a Bangalore-based company after receiving his BTech. He initially started preparing for the UPSC while working in Bengaluru, but his lack of preparation caused him to fail in the preliminary exam. Afterwards, he made the decision to resign from his position in order to devote all of his attention to UPSC preparation. With a rank of 136 on the UPSC 2022 exam, Srivastava was chosen for IPS. Srivastava told ANI that consistent hard work and smart work are the key to achieving whatever you want. “I would just say that being consistent and hard work along with smart work is the key to doing whatever you want to achieve and the same holds well for this field as well.”

“It was a bit difficult to sink in but after that I was ecstatic. I was not expecting Rank 1, I was praying to God to get into the top 70, so that I can get into Indian Administrative Services. It was difficult because you consistently have to acknowledge your mistakes and then try to rectify them despite not knowing how to. But with the help of my mentors and seniors, I was able to achieve that,” ANI quoted him as saying.
