Amidst the aftermath of a devastating hailstorm that struck Manipur last Sunday, Chief Minister N. Biren extended a reassuring hand to the beleaguered residents of the Keirao Assembly constituency.

Gathering on the spot repot from to the heart of the affected areas, Manipur Chief Minister pledged compensation to those grappling with the aftermath of nature’s fury.

At a specially erected relief camp for hailstorm victims, Chief Minister N. Biren stood before a crowd of afflicted people. He said “The government stands with you,” he proclaimed, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to alleviating the suffering of those impacted by the calamity.

Accompanied by a entourage of dignitaries including MLA L. Rameshwor and DC Imphal East Kh. Daina, Chief Minister N. Biren embarked on a heartfelt tour of the battered landscapes. He engaged with the victims, listening intently to their tales of loss and anguish. The chief minister gauged the extent of the devastation and offer solace in the form of tangible support.

Preliminary assessments painted a grim picture: an estimated 15,500 homes lay in ruins, victims of the hailstorm’s indiscriminate wrath. The government pledged to spearhead a comprehensive rebuilding effort, starting with the replacement of damaged houses with sturdy Gl sheets.

The Manipur government on Monday announced a relief package worth Rs 6.90 crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for people affected by the hailstorm.
