Authorities have urged residents in the impacted areas to avoid vigorous activities, remain hydrated, and stay inside during the hottest parts of the day. The severe heatwave that is affecting northern and western India is posing health concerns and other issues, which is why the IMD is issuing these advisories as part of a larger effort to reduce those risks.
