On the same day, in Mungeshpur, the maximum temperature was recorded at 52.3 degrees Celsius at 4.14 pm, as per the weather department data. However, the IMD detected a glitch in the system and revised the maximum temperature to 49 degrees Celsius.

Delhi has recorded its first heat-related death this year as a man died in the national capital with his fever reaching upwards of 107 degrees Fahrenheit. The 40-year-old labourer had no AC or cooler in his room, as per reports.

Extreme heatwave conditions in Delhi continue to push the city’s power demand upwards. According to the State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) data, Delhi’s peak power demand reached 8302 MW at 3:36 pm on Wednesday.

The IMD has predicted that a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 3-4 degree Celsius is very likely over Northwest and Central India during the next three-four days. The weather department has predicted partly cloudy sky and heatwave conditions with possibility of dust storm or thunderstorm and very light rain accompanied with gusty winds on Thursday.
