No stay, SC seeks NTA response on paper leak charges
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay the counselling for admissions of students to medical colleges over alleged paper leak and irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate (UG) examination 2024.A vacation bench, comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, issued a notice on one of the pleas seeking cancellation of the examination held in May and probe into the paper leak. The bench has sought response from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and posted the matter for resumed hearing on July 8.

The bench made it clear that it would not stop the counselling. The development took place during the hearing of a clutch of petitions seeking cancellation of the NEET-UG 2024 over alleged paper leak and other irregularities this year.

One of the pleas in the Apex Court has specifically alleged that the paper was leaked in Patna and wrong question papers were given to candidates in Rajasthan.

The candidates have alleged irregularities in award of compensatory marks to students for loss of time.

Last month, a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, had refused to stay the publication of results of NEET-UG 2024. The bench had, however, issued notice on the plea.
