Details of the Complaint
The 27-year-old complainant alleged that Suraj Revanna committed “unnatural offences” and sexually abused him. The charges include serious sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complainant stated that Revanna assaulted him and later demanded ₹5 crore, which was reduced to ₹2 crore, to avoid filing a false case of sexual assault.
Revanna’s Denial and Counter-Accusations
Suraj Revanna has categorically denied these allegations, suggesting that the charges are part of a political conspiracy. He stated, “I absolutely reject these allegations. They are part of a political conspiracy. An FIR has also been lodged against the complainant. Let the truth come out. I have faith in the law of the land.”
HL Shivakumar, an aide to Revanna, further explained that the complainant had initially approached Revanna seeking a job. When Revanna indicated that he could not help at the moment but might consider it in the future, the complainant then demanded money, alleging assault when the demands were not met.
The Revanna Family Under Scrutiny
Suraj Revanna is the eldest son of Holenarasipur MLA HD Revanna and the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. The entire Revanna family has been under scrutiny following multiple controversies. Recently, pen drives surfaced containing videos of Suraj’s brother, Prajwal Revanna, with different women, leading to significant media attention.
Arrest of Prajwal Revanna
Adding to the family’s legal troubles, Prajwal Revanna was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on May 31. He was returning from Germany, where he had been evading arrest after rape and intimidation charges were filed against him. Moreover, HD Revanna and his wife Bhavani are currently out on bail, accused of kidnapping and detaining an alleged victim of Prajwal’s sexual assaults.
