“The SIT has submitted its report to the government,” Director Information, Shishir said.
He, however, did not reveal the contents of the report.
However, news wire agency ANI quoting sources said that in the report, the SIT has said that the committee organising the ‘Satsang’ was responsible for calling more people than the permitted number. The committee, the report said, has not made adequate arrangements nor it inspected the spot.
A separate judicial commission headed by retired Allahabad High Court judge Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava, and retired IPS Hemant Rao is also probing the Hathras stampede case.
121 people were killed in the stampede earlier this month.The victims were part of the crowd of thousands that had gathered near Phulrai village in the Sikandrarau area for the ‘satsang’ by religious preacher Bhole Baba.The stampede took place at around 3.30 pm when Baba was leaving the venue.
