US vice president Kamala Harris is reported to have spoken to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday evening even as the Congress leadership chose to maintain a silence over the report that said the two leaders spoke over the phone.
“No idea whatsoever,” a Congress spokesperson said when asked about the telephonic conversation.
While it is believed that Harris made a courtesy call to Gandhi following his appointment as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, its timing, incidentally, coincided with a section of the Democrats pitching for the Indian origin Harris to be the party’s presidential candidate in place of President Joe Biden.
The New York Times has reported that Harris is actively considering the prospects of running for the top position and is also discussing the possible names of those who can be her running mate.
