During the launch event at NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, PM Modi said “Eight crore new jobs created in India in last 3 to 4 years; this figure has silenced those spreading fake narrative on jobs.”
He also expressed confidence in Maharashtra’s economic potential, stating, “My aim is to make Maharashtra the world’s biggest economic powerhouse.” He highlighted the enthusiastic response from small and large investors towards the government’s renewed mandate.
“People know that it is the NDA government that can give stability and durability,” PM Modi emphasized, reaffirming his commitment to accelerated development. He outlined ambitious plans for Maharashtra, stating, “Maharashtra has a glorious history, Maharashtra has a strong present and Maharashtra has dreams of a prosperous future. Maharashtra is a state which has a very big role in building a developed India. Maharashtra has the power of industry, Maharashtra has the power of agriculture, Maharashtra has the power of the finance sector. This power has made Mumbai the financial hub of the country. Now my goal is to use this power of Maharashtra to make Maharashtra the biggest economic powerhouse of the world.”
PM Modi underscored the significance of Maharashtra in India’s development trajectory, affirming, “Maharashtra has the power of industry, agriculture, and the finance sector.” He emphasized the state’s pivotal role, especially Mumbai, as the country’s financial nerve center.
“These projects will help in improving the connectivity in Mumbai and its neighbouring areas. These projects will also help in creating employment opportunities,” PM Modi went on to say.Central to the infrastructure boost is the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, estimated at Rs 6,300 crore. This project includes twin tunnels spanning 4.7 km each, aimed at slashing travel time between Goregaon and Mulund from 75 minutes to just 25 minutes. These tunnels will integrate state-of-the-art features like advanced lighting, ventilation systems, and CCTV surveillance, ensuring minimal environmental impact.The GMLR project is set to enhance connectivity between Mumbai’s Western and Eastern Express Highways, offering direct access to the upcoming Navi Mumbai airport and the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 22,400 tons annually, contributing to improved air quality in the city.
In addition to GMLR, PM Modi inaugurated various other projects including the Thane-Borivali railway line and crucial port expansions. These developments aim to alleviate traffic congestion, promote sustainable urban mobility, and catalyze economic growth across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The ambitious infrastructure projects launched by PM Modi are part of ongoing efforts to modernize Mumbai’s transport network and bolster its status as a global financial and technological hub. The Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, spanning 12.20 km across four phases, represents a significant investment in enhancing regional connectivity and reducing travel time within Mumbai.
The project’s implementation includes advanced engineering solutions to minimize disruption to surrounding ecosystems, underscoring a commitment to environmental sustainability.
PM Modi’s visit to Mumbai underscores the government’s proactive stance towards infrastructure development, aimed at supporting economic activities, attracting investments, and improving the quality of life for residents in one of India’s most dynamic urban centers.
