LPL 2024 Final: Jaffna Kings handed Galle Marvels a hammering in the Lanka Premier League 2024 final, as the record champions of the league defeated them by 9 wickets. It was a day to forget for the Marvels, as their players failed to step up on the grand occasion, with the only exceptions being Tim Seifert and Bhanuka Rajapaksha, as they contributed 129 runs to the team’s total of 184 in their 20 overs.
In reply, the Jaffna Kings were off to a dismal start, as Galle Marvels managed to scalp the highly-dangerous Pathum Nissanka on the very first ball, as the Sri Lankan departed for a golden duck.
However, the first ball of the second innings was the only bright moment for Dwaine Pretorius and Galle Marvels, as Rilee Rossouw and Kusal Mendis inflicted huge pain upon them for the next 93 balls by registering an unbeaten 185 run stand, which eventually resulted in a 9-wicket win, and a cakewalk final victory for Charith Asalanka-led side.
