Pakistan trying to stay relevant through terror: PM Narendra Modi

Srinagar: On the 25th anniversary of Kargil War, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the Indian troops will trample terrorism with full force and evil designs of the kingpins of terrorism will not be allowed to succeed.The PM while addressing a gathering in Kargil paid tributes to Army men who were killed in the war and targeted Pakistan saying that it hasn’t learnt from its past despite defeats it faced in all the misadventures that it carried out in the past. “I want to convey to the kingpins of terrorism that their evil designs will never succeed. Our troops will trample terrorism with full force and the enemy will be given a befitting reply. Be it Ladakh or J&K Bharat will overcome any and every challenge and obstacle in the path of development,” said Modi. The PM said that through “terrorism and proxy war” Pakistan wants to keep itself relevant. “Today when I am speaking from a place where the kingpins of terror can listen to my voice directly,” he said.

Modi said that he had the fortune to be with the troops in Kargil in 1999 as a common citizen of India and that he was reliving those memories today. “I remember how our troops carried out the war operation at this height. We have not just won the war in Kargil but we exemplified truth, patience and competence. India at that time was striving for peace and in return Pakistan once again showed its untrustworthy face. But the falsehood and terror lost against truth,” he said.

He further said that the abrogation of Article 370 will complete five years in a few days and that J&K is now talking about big dreams and a new future. “J&K is now recognised for hosting important global events like the G20 meeting,” he said. The PM said that after decades, cinemas were reopened in Kashmir and the Muharram procession was taken out through the heart of Srinagar city, after almost 35 years.

The PM virtually carried out the first blast of the 4.1 km long Shinkun La tunnel project that will be constructed at an altitude of around 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum- Darcha road to provide all-weather connectivity to Leh.
