Former India cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad has passed away at the age of 71 following a prolonged battle with cancer. He breathed his last breath on July 31 (Wednesday). Gaekwad had been receiving treatment for blood cancer in London before returning to India last month.

Gaekwad, who also had a stint as an India coach, played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs between 1975 and 1987. During his Test career, he amassed 1,985 runs, including a notable 201 in an 11-hour innings against Pakistan.
