FIR registered against Hindalco eight years after preliminary enquiry
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday registered an FIR against Hindalco Industries and its former Director on charges of corruption.

“The FIR Registered on July 19 against Hindalco Industries, Dr. T Chandra, the then Director, MoEF and a few others. FIR registered under certain sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Criminal conspiracy (120 B of IPC Act),” reported ET bureau.

The case pertains to allocation of Talabira II coal block in Orissa to M/s Hindalco in 2005.

CBI, in its FIR, had named Parakh, industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, M/s Hindalco Industries Ltd and other unknown persons for alleged offences under section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, in 2015.

The Hindalco shares were trading in red, down 0.3 per cent, at 2:00 pm on Tuesday (August 6, 2024).
