India’s ace visually-impaired athlete Simran Sharma produced her career-best performance to win a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024. She clocked 24.75s to finish third in the women’s 200m T12 event to bring India’s 28th medal at the 17th edition of the Para Games.

Simran, the gold medalist at the 2024 World Championships, paired with Abhay Singh after suffering heartbreak in a 100m event in Paris. She seemed off to a slow start compared to the other three participants but recovered well after racing ten seconds to finish third ahead of Iran’s Hagar Safarzadeh Ghahderijani.

The legendary Omara Durand of Cuba finished first with another personal-best record with 23.62s to clinch her historic 11th Paralympic gold. Omara also bagged gold medals in the women’s 100m and 400m categories in Paris to go down in history as one of the best Para athletes of all time.

Women’s 200m – T12 Final Results

  1. Omara Durand (Cuba) – 23.62s
  2. Alejandra Paola (Venezuela) – 24.19s
  3. Simran Sharma (India) – 24.75s
