BJP keeps half of the 24 parliamentary committee chairman posts, Congress gets four

BJP keeps half of the 24 parliamentary committee chairman posts, Congress gets four
The department related parliamentary standing committees have been constituted by the government on Thursday post the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has got 12 chairman posts while Congress has got four. Among the opposition, both AITC and DMK have got two chairman posts each. NDA allies JDU, TDP and Shiv Sena have also got one chairman post each. Samajwadi Party has got one chairman post.

The BJP has kept the chairmanship of important standing committees on home, defence and finance while Congress has been given the chairmanship of standing committee on external affairs.

BJP leader RMD Agrawal has become the chairman of the standing committee on home affairs while the committee on finance will be headed by Bhartruhari Mahtab. Senior BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh will be heading the committee on defence.

AITC ‘s Dola Sen will head the committee on commerce while another AITC MP Kirti Azad will be the chairman of committee on chemical and fertilizer.


DMK MP Kanimozhi will be heading the committee on consumer affairs, food and public distribution. Another party MP Tiruchi Siva would be heading the committee on industry.BJP ally JDU leader Sanjay Jha has been appointed as the chairman of the committee on transport, tourism and culture.TDP MP Srinivasulu Reddy would be heading the committee on housing and urban affairs. Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Appa Barne has been appointed the chairman of the committee on energy.

Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has been made the chairman of committee on health and family welfare.
