Kamindu Mendis Record: Kamindu Mendis has scripted history on back-to-back days in the ongoing 2nd Test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, as the Sri Lankan all-rounder joins Sir Donald Bradman as the joint-2nd fastest player to score 1000 Test runs. Both of them have now attained the feat in 13 innings, and Kamindu Mendis, who broke Saud Shakeel’s world record on Thursday, has now become the fastest player to reach 1000 Test runs this century.

The 25-year-old attained the feat in some fashion as he smashed Rachin Ravindra down the ground for a massive six. The moment proved to be the final action of the first innings, as Sri Lanka captain declared the innings at 602/5, with Kamindu Mendis unbeaten at 182, alongside fellow centurion Kusla Mendis, who too, remained unbeaten on 106.
