“I was prepared for bowling with the new ball in powerplay. Renuka and myself got the going in the initial phase. I have worked harder on my T20 bowling and I’ve seen that my new ball bowling has got better. Obviously a day game. It is very humid and hot here but we are very accustomed to this weather as we play a lot of games in these conditions back home,” said Arundhati Reddy, who was awarded the Player of the Match.
Here’s What The Two Captains Said During Post-Match Presentation Ceremony
Fatima Sana (Pakistan Captain):
“We were not up to the mark in batting and that is why we were 10-15 runs short. Hopefully we will do well in the batting order from the next match. I will try to go up in the order. I’m enjoying my time with these girls. I have enjoyed my time playing against India.”
Smriti Mandhana (India Women Vice-Captain):
“I think its too soon to say anything, our medical team is working on her so lets see how it goes. Well, I think as a bowling unit, we did really well, followed the plans and executed it nicely. As a fielding unit, we have to improve a little bit but happy to get our first win. Yeah definitely we did think about it but me and Shafali were unable to time the ball nicely so we tried to be calculative in order to ensure we don’t lose too many wickets and put pressure on ourselves, so we wanted to get over the line comfortably.”
“Yeah definitely, they are playing really good cricket. For us, this game will get a lot of momentum for us going into the World Cup, so hopefully we keep doing our process right.”
