Ayodhya Deepotsav sets two new Guinness World Records in spectacular Diwali celebration on Lord Ram’s land
On the eve of Diwali, Ayodhya illuminated in magnificent hues to celebrate the first Deepotsava since the installation of Ram Lalla in the newly built temple. Words like “Amazing, Youthful, Opulent, Dynamic, Heavenly, Yellow glow, and Admirable” barely capture the city’s vibrant spirit as it welcomed devotees and tourists for this year’s historic festivities.

Wednesday’s celebration marked the achievement of two Guinness World Records, set by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, Ayodhya District Administration, and Saryu Arti Samiti. Ayodhya broke the record for the largest display of oil lamps, with 2,512,585 diyas lighting up the banks of the Saryu River. The second record saw 1,121 people performing ‘diya’ rotations simultaneously in a grand aarti, showcasing Ayodhya’s unity in devotion.

Deepotsava, a five-day festival, commemorates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after his 14-year exile and has grown in both cultural significance and tourism appeal. Since 2017, Ayodhya has transformed, drawing millions annually. Local businesses thrived as visitors flooded the city, with new hotels and nighttime activities enhancing Ayodhya’s vibrancy.

This year’s Deepotsava not only shattered records but also celebrated Ayodhya’s rich heritage and continued transformation as a spiritual and cultural beacon.
