Lokayukta questions Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA case

Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah appeared before the Lokayukta in Mysuru on Wednesday and responded to queries from investigators on the allegedly unlawful allotment of 14 housing plots to his wife Parvathy by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

He was not embarrassed to appear before the police team as he had not committed anything wrong or unlawful, and he provided responses based on facts, the CM told media persons today.

On the BJP’s demand for handing the case over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Siddaramaiah said that the BJP had no faith in the rule of law and that the Lokayukta was also an independent investigation agency like the CBI.

The governor, too, had ordered an inquiry by Lokayukta and the investigation was on, accordingly, he said.

The CM said that his wife had returned the 14 plots to the MUDA following the “false accusations” made against him by BJP and JDS, and that this should not be seen as admission of any wrongdoing.

He said that he would give a fitting response to the allegations in the courts and that his long political career had been free of any taint.
