We are less than 3 months away from the return of ICC Champions Trophy after a period of eight years, as the 2025 edition is all-set to take place in Pakistan. However, a huge ongoing rift between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are making things a bit worrying and tense, as the latter has expressed its concern with the security threat that looms around the Indian Cricket Team (ICT) in their potential visit to Pakistan.
As several reports have come out stating that there might be change in venue or Indian team opting out of the concern, an old video has resurfaced on ‘X’, which has now made the matters even worse.
The video depicts the infamous incident of 1996 at the National Bank Stadium of Karachi, where hosts Pakistan took on India in an ODI match of the then-ongoing series.
During the first innings of the match, Indian fielders reported the issue of Pakistan fans and crowd present at the stadium disturbing the match, as there were few incidents of stone pelting taking place at the venue.
Things took a toll on the Indian side when Sourav Ganguly, alongside Sachin Tendulkar and rest of the team, decided to walk off the field in the 48th over, after reporting yet another ‘stone pelting incident’ to the umpires by handing them the stone which was thrown at the fielders by the Pakistan crowd.
