Manipur crisis: Assam seals Cachar border amid unrest
Guwahati: As a precaution, the Cachar district administration of Assam has sealed its border with Manipur. Meanwhile, in solidarity with the 10 Kuki-Zo-Hmar tribal ‘Village Volunteers’ killed in a purported CRPF encounter in Jiribam on November 11, thousands of men and women held a ‘coffin rally’ in Churachandpur on Tuesday.

Sources said the first two batches have started arriving and the rest of the CAPF troops are expected to be in the state by this week. “Around 90 troopers landed at Imphal in an IAF C130 Hercules aircraft,” they said.

Continuing its lockdown of central government institutions, women protestors on Tuesday locked the depot of Indian Oil in Imphal.

Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, who has been overseeing these security measures at the border, said: “Given the current law and order situation in Jiribam, Manipur, strict security arrangements have been implemented to prevent unauthorised entry from Manipur into Cachar.”

PROTESTS IN CHURACHANDPUR

Jointly organised by Zomi Students’ Federation, Kuki Students’ Organisation and Hmar Students’ Association, thousands of men and women wearing black symbolically carried 10 dummy coffins to pay homage to the 10 slain Village Volunteers.

MEETING OF MEITEIS
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), an apex body of the Meitei community, has rejected the eight-point resolution adopted at the NDA meeting on Monday.
