The dates of Putin’s visit, however, are yet to be disclosed.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India soon. We are working on the dates,” Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying.
This will be Putin’s first visit to India since the Russia-Ukraine war broke out in 2022.
The last time Russian President Vladimir Putin visited India was on December 6, 2021. He traveled to New Delhi for the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During this visit, the two leaders had discussed a wide range of issues, including bilateral cooperation in defense, trade, energy, and regional security.If Putin decides to come to India in 2024, this would include his third bilateral interaction with Prime Minister Modi. Earlier this year, Modi visited Russia on twoseparate occassion and met with Putin to discuss India and Russia’s bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan in October. Prior to that, Modi and Putin had endulged in diplomatic talks on the sidelines of Eastern Economic Forum in Russia.
Modi had also extended an invitation for Putin to visit India during his meeting with the Russian President.
