Bangladesh refutes India’s remarks on arrest of Hindu monk Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das, calls claims “unfounded”
The Government of Bangladesh has strongly refuted a statement made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding the arrest of Hindu monk Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das, labelling the claims as “unfounded” and contrary to the spirit of friendship between the two nations.
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Tuesday, Bangladesh expressed “utter dismay and deep hurt” over the statement, clarifying that the arrest of Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das was based on specific charges. It criticised certain quarters for misrepresenting the arrest and asserted that these allegations undermine the facts while mischaracterizing the commitment of the Bangladeshi government to religious harmony.
