Former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was acquitted on Saturday in a 1997 custodial torture case by a Porbandar court. Currently serving a life sentence for a 1990 custodial death and a 20-year sentence for framing a lawyer with narcotics in 1996, he remains incarcerated at Rajkot Central Jail.
