Kolkata: A senior Bangladesh Army officer, who is leading a delegation of war veterans and military officers on a visit here, said his country’s friendship with India is very strong and that “under no means we will destroy the friendship”.
Brigadier General Mohammed Aminur Rahman said the contribution of the Indian Army towards the independence of Bangladesh is well accepted and his country is very grateful about it.
The senior officer’s comments come amid concerns raised by New Delhi about the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and at a time when certain sections in Bangladesh are raising anti-India rhetoric.
When asked about the turmoil in Bangladesh, he said: “This is a temporary thing and it will resolve.”
