At least 17 people, including one critically, were injured when an elephant lost control during the Puthiyangadi festival at a mosque in Kerala’s Malappuram district. The elephant, named Pakkathu Sreekuttan, charged into the crowd, injuring several people. The chaos caused a stampede, and subduing the elephant took nearly two hours.
