The oral observation by a bench of justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh came during the hearing of a plea moved by Uttar Pradesh MLA Abbas Ansari, who said his case related to a property dispute was not being heard by the Allahabad High Court.
“Some of the high courts, we don’t know what will happen… this (Allahabad High Court) is one of the high courts which is worrisome,” justice Kant verbally remarked while speaking for the bench.
Elaborating, the senior SC judge further orally observed that “unfortunately, filing has collapsed, listing has collapsed… Nobody knows which matter will be listed. I was there last Saturday, I had a long interaction with some of the concerned judges and registrar… it is the largest high court.”
Appearing for the petitioner, senior advocate Kapil Sibal also said that the developments with regard to listing and filing of cases in the high court are “very, very worrisome”.
