Jasprit Bumrah endured a tough period from 2022-2023, whereconstant injuries hampered his playing time. However, ever since returning from injury, Jasprit Bumrah has been on a whole different level, and currently sits, arguably, the greatest bowler of past 15 years.
The speedster fought a lone battle against Australia in India’s recent Tour Down Under, as the side succumbed to a series of humiliating defeats at the hands of the reigning World Test Champions in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series.
Australia ended their 10-year wait to get their hands on the elusive BGT trophy, as they th rashed India 3-1, but the Kangaroos certainly lost their individual battles to Jasprit Bumrah, who rattled their batting order with 32 wickets in 9 innings, and was awarded the ‘Player of the Series’.
Jasprit Bumrah achieved a unique feat during the series, as he became the first-ever bowler in the history of Test Cricket to scalp 200 wicktets, with a bowling average less than 20.
Taking only December into consideration, Jasprit Bumrah scalped 22 wickets, with a bowling average of 14.22 across 3 Test matches.
The workload was immense, as the Indian legend carried the burden of delivering for the nation in what was a ‘1v11’ situation, as other Indian bowlers failed miserably to complement Jasprit Bumrah.
The BGT 2024-25 saw the 31-year-old bowl 151.2 overs, which included 39 maidens; 32 wickets; and a bowling average of 13.06, which is way too remarkable and unique, seeing the magnitude of the fixture and the quality of batters out there.
