How a train to Kashmir and the Z-Morh Tunnel can turn a new chapter in the Valley’s economy, tourism, and security

The recently-inaugurated Z-Morh Tunnel and the upcoming Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) are expected to provide a significant boost to Kashmir’s economy. “For horticulture industry, these links are a game-changer, enabling faster transportation of produce like apples and saffron to national and international markets. This efficiency will enhance quality control, reduce costs, and boost the region’s economic output. Tourism, a cornerstone of Kashmir’s economy, is also set to thrive with better accessibility, attracting more visitors year-round, even during winter,” KYARI’s (Kashmir’s Yumberzal Applied Research Institute) Arhan Bagati said.
