At Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, PM Narendra Modi said, “You must have seen fabulous pictures of Coldplay concert organised in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It shows that India has a massive scope for live concerts. Big artists from around the world are attracted towards India… I expect the state and the private sector to focus on needed infrastructure and skills.”
The band’s final performance in India was held on January 26 in Ahmedabad. It was a part of Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour“.
Earlier, the band performed in Navi Mumbai at a sold-out DY Patil Stadium on all occasions. Coldplay had last visited India in 2016 for the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai.
Coldplay’s lead vocalist Chris Martin kicked off the band’s performance at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Republic Day with a greeting to the crowd.
A Bank of Baroda research noted that India’s emerging economy around live music and entertainment events offered a potential of Rs 6,000-8,000 crore spending spree. “Our conservative to optimistic estimates suggests a push to spending ranging from around Rs 1,600-2,000 crore in the span of last two-three months, from the announcement of these concerts,” Bank of Baroda Research said.
If considered on an annualised basis, this category can provide the desired impact on private consumption demand, it added.
