Budget 2025: Modi’s mega booster gift to Bihar with Makhana board, food processing units and more

Bihar continues to be in the spotlight in the Union Budget for the second consecutive year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman specifically mentioned Bihar, announcing the establishment of a Makhana Board to support farmers and boost production. With 85% of India’s Makhana grown here, the state will benefit greatly. The budget also includes plans for a National Institute of Food Technology to boost food processing and job creation. Additionally, financial support for the West Kosi Canal will improve irrigation in the Mithilanchal region, and new airports, along with expansions to Patna and Bihta airports, will improve air connectivity. Furthermore, infrastructure at IIT Patna will be enhanced, setting the stage for a strong development-focused campaign ahead of Bihar’s upcoming elections.
