The veteran was ruled out of the first ODI due to an injury in his right knee, and was even spotted with his right knee strapped while doing a light warm-up before the commencement of the match.

The last time Virat Kohli missed an ODI due to injury was his very first time of doing so, in the 50-over format, back in 2022 against England.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru legend has missed matches on previous occasions either due to a shoulder injury, or back spasm.

Here are some of the instances:

2017: Right Shoulder Injury 

The first instance of Virat Kohli missing a Test match due to injury came in 2017, when the Indian batter missed the 4th Test of the BGT Series due to a right shoulder injury he sustained in injury. With this, his 54-Test match streak came to an end.

2018: Neck Problem

Virat Kohli’s preparation for England tour took a hit, as he sustained a neck injury. This led to him missing a County game for Surrey. The problem further forced him to miss a T20I as well.

2022: Back Spasm

The last time Virat Kohli missed a match due to injury was when the Indian batter reported off a back spasm, which ruled him out of the 2nd Test vs South Africa.
