Bangladesh Skipper Makes Bold Statement Ahead Of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Opener Vs India

Bangladesh skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto has made a bold statement in concern with his side’s chances at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, stating that the Bangla Tigers ‘are here to win it all’. The top-order batsman praised all the eight participating sides by calling them ‘deserved champions’, as Bangladesh gear up for their mega event opener against India on February 20.

“We are going to the Champions Trophy to become champions. All eight teams deserve to be champions in this tournament. They are all quality teams. I believe our team has the ability. No one will feel extra pressure. Everyone genuinely wants (to become champions), and believes in their capabilities. We don’t know what Allah has written in our fate. We are working hard and doing our best. I believe we can achieve our goal,” said Nazmul Hossain Shanto.

“I am very happy and confident with the 15 players in the squad. Anyone who plays has the ability to win a match single-handedly. Not too long ago, we didn’t have quality pace bowlers, but now we have a strong pace bowling unit. We didn’t have wrist spinners before, but now we do. Overall, we have a balanced team. If everyone fulfills their responsibilities properly, we can defeat any team at any time,” he added.

Bangladesh had a forgettable ODI campaign in their last 50-over series, as West Indies completed a 3-0 whitewash. Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s side will be missing the services of legendary all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, who misses his first ICC tournament in nearly 20 years.

Bangladesh are grouped alongside India, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
