India will now face New Zealand in their final league-stage match on March 2 at the Dubai International Stadium. This match presents a special milestone opportunity for Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma is just 13 runs away from overtaking Chris Gayle’s tally of 19,593 international runs. Currently, Rohit has scored 19,581 runs in 529 innings across 496 matches in all formats, including 49 centuries and 107 half-centuries.
If Rohit scores at least 13 runs against New Zealand, he will surpass Gayle and become the 14th highest run-scorer in international cricket history.
Among Indian players, Rohit Sharma ranks fourth in terms of total international runs. The only Indian batters ahead of him are Sachin Tendulkar (34,357 runs), Virat Kohli (27,503 runs), and Rahul Dravid (24,208 runs).
With the form he is in, Rohit is on track to reach the 20,000-run milestone in international cricket this year.
