Ainapur Hobli village in Kalaburagi recorded the highest temperature in the last 24 hours at 42.8°C.
Speaking in Raichur, the minister said, “With rising temperatures, the government may change work timings for government offices. Officers should avoid field visits in the afternoon, and employees should not go out between 12 noon and 3 pm. Work should be done in the morning or evening. Raichur is seeing temperatures close to 43-44°C.”
He also advised schools and institutions to take precautions. “Eat well, stay hydrated, and avoid dehydration. Government hospitals are prepared to handle heat-related issues,” he added.
According to IMD, temperatures in North Interior Karnataka are expected to rise by 2-4°C between March 15 and 17, with a heatwave warning in some areas on March 18 and 19.
In South Interior Karnataka, no major temperature change is expected for the next 24 hours, but a gradual rise of 2-3°C is likely in the coming days.The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported that several districts, including Kalaburagi, Bidar, Bagalkote, Raichur, Yadgir, and Vijayapura, recorded temperatures above 40°C on Friday. Parts of Bagalkote and Belagavi also experienced extreme heat.High temperatures were recorded in isolated areas of Tumakuru, Ballari, Gadag, Koppala, Uttara Kannada, Vijayanagara, Chikkaballapura, and Mysuru districts.
A KSNDMC bulletin noted that multiple locations across these districts saw temperatures of 40°C or higher.
An IMD analysis found that temperatures in parts of North Interior Karnataka were 3.1-5.0°C above normal, while in other areas, they were 1.6-3.0°C above usual levels. Most of the state experienced near-normal temperatures, fluctuating within -1.5 to 1.5°C.
