New Delhi: India and Malaysia have agreed to take necessary steps for speeding up review of the Asean India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) for substantial conclusion by 2025, the government said Tuesday.
Malaysia is one of the 10-member countries of Asean and the Asean chair for 2025.
The issue was discussed at a bilateral meeting between minister of state for commerce and industry Jitin Prasada and Malaysian deputy minister for investment, trade and industry Liew Chin Tong. The two sides also discussed issues realted to bilateral trade and market access, collaboration in semiconductor industry, cooperation in services sector and the issues related to foreign manufacturers certification scheme of Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS).
The next joint panel meeting for the review is scheduled for April 9-11 and the aim is to conclude the review this year.
