The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds for some districts of West Bengal until 23rd March. According to the IMD, areas like Jhargram, Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia, Purba and Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum, Nadia, and Murshidabad are likely to witness thunderstorms with gusty winds, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall.
Apart from these districts, the rest of West Bengal is also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds until Sunday.
In Kolkata, light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds is likely to continue till Sunday morning. The city’s minimum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 21.1 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal, according to the Met office data.
Residents of these districts are advised to stay cautious during the period and avoid open spaces during lightning strikes. The IMD has urged people to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the unpredictable weather.
