The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to begin on Saturday (March 22), with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens.
However, rain could play spoilsport, as the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Kolkata. The city already experienced light showers on Friday (March 21), raising concerns about possible interruptions during the opening clash.
What happens If rain disrupts KKR vs RCB match?
In case of rain, the umpires will first attempt to conduct a shortened game of at least 10 overs per side. If conditions do not allow a 10-over contest, the match may be further reduced to 5 overs per team. However, if rain makes play impossible, both teams will be awarded one point each.
