Kareena Kapoor wants to hold her grandchildren without depending on anyone, doesn’t believe in botox: ‘Want to keep working till 85’

Kareena Kapoor Khan has remained at the pinnacle of the Hindi film industry for 25 years. Right from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001, followed by Talaash (2002), Chameli (2004), Chup Chup Ke (2006), Don, Jab We Met (2007), to now Crew and The Buckingham Murders, the actress has redefined herself with every new character she has played. At a recent event, Kareena Kapoor shared the secret behind her evergreen looks, and quipped, “I focus on doing all my work myself than skin treatment and botox.”

At the book launch event of celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, Kareena expressed her desire to be able to work at even 85 and pick her grandchildren without any support. She said, “Age is just a number. My only thing is I always want to be fit to take on whatever old age brings. I want to be able to do what I have to do whether it has to go to sets at 70, 75. I want to keep working until 85, all my life.”

She added, “I want be able to bend to pick up my grandchildren. I want be able to do things and not be dependent on someone or a stick. For that, I have to eat right, and have mobility to work out. It’s not about the way I look, it’s about the way I feel and that’s what for me, aging and life is. I am embracing it.”

Kareena said that eating simple and healthy food like ghee, khichdi, and doing a little bit of weight training is all that she needs to do to remain fit. “Strength training, walking a little, doing Surya namaskars, and doing my little works on my own rather than skin treatment and botox”, shared the actress.

Previously, speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Kareena shared, “In my teens, I was just a Punjabi Kapoor, enjoying food and life without much concern. Transitioning to a size zero for a role was never planned—it was just something I did. I never imagined it would spark such a craze. Today, I focus on feeling good and being comfortable with who I am.”

She added that it is important for her to nourish herself with a good meal, heartfelt chat, or a bottle of wine. “It’s about feeling great, whether that’s through fitness routines or just being with my family.”
